Terms of service

Last updated Oct 28, 2026

These terms govern the use of Scrape Engine, a web data API published by [Company name] (“we”). Creating an account means you accept them. Paid offers are also governed by the terms of sale.

The service

Scrape Engine fetches public web pages on your instructions and returns their content: structured data, Markdown, screenshots, PDFs, crawls, with browsers, proxies and AI features. It is offered as is: we work to keep it available and accurate, but web pages change and some sites block automated access, so we don’t guarantee any particular result.

Your account

  • You sign in with a Google account and must be at least 18, or act for a business.
  • You keep your API keys secret: requests made with them are yours, and billed to you.
  • One person or business per account; creating accounts to collect free credits again is forbidden.

Acceptable use

Scraping is legal when done within an authorised legal framework. You alone decide what you scrape and how you use it, and you are responsible for it. In particular you must not use Scrape Engine to:

  • access content behind a login, paywall or technical protection you aren’t authorised to bypass;
  • collect personal data without a legal basis, or process it against the GDPR (for instance to spam, profile or track people);
  • infringe copyright, database rights or trade secrets, or breach a site’s terms in a way the law sanctions;
  • overload a site, run denial-of-service attacks, or probe systems you don’t own;
  • target sensitive services (banks, public authorities, health) or collect data for any illegal purpose.

We keep a list of domains that can’t be scraped (government and public administration sites except their open data and public APIs, banks, insurers, illegal content, and sites whose owners asked us to), checked on every request, redirect and page, and an automated review classifies new sites. We may also require every request to follow robots.txt. Our systems watch for abuse (requests to sensitive sites, unusual volumes, several accounts per person, address or card). Depending on its seriousness, abuse leads to a warning, a temporary suspension or a permanent ban, without refund of credits used for it, and we cooperate with the authorities when the law requires it.

Site owners can ask for their domain to be blocked by writing to us: we act on legitimate requests promptly.

Requests and pages you keep with us (logs, results, captures, monitoring snapshots) are encrypted at rest. Credentials you use in saved templates and schedules must be stored as secrets: we refuse them in the clear.

Your content

Data you collect and templates you create are yours. By publishing a template on the marketplace, you let other users run and copy it, and let us show it, for as long as it stays published. Published templates are reviewed before they appear, and we may remove one at any time.

Credits and limits

Requests cost credits, at the rates shown in the documentation; rates may change, never retroactively. Your plan sets your concurrent requests, your priority when the engine is busy and how long your logs are kept, as shown on the pricing page.

Liability

We can’t be held liable for how you use the service or the data you collect, nor for losses caused by a site changing or blocking access. Our total liability is limited to what you paid us over the last twelve months. Nothing here limits liability where the law forbids it.

Ending

You can delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. Unused paid credits are refunded only when we close an account without fault on your side.

Changes and law

We’ll notify you of any significant change at least 30 days ahead; continuing to use the service means you accept it. These terms are governed by French law; disputes go to the [City] courts, subject to any mandatory rule protecting consumers. Contact: [contact@yourdomain].
